Northwest Colorado's Home for Orthopaedic Care

Orthopaedic care in Steamboat Springs became whole in 2018 when a collaboration of world-class subspecialty surgeons found an alliance as a team that would become greater than the sum of its parts. The merging of Steamboat Orthopaedic Associates and Orthopaedics of Steamboat Springs into Steamboat Orthopaedic and Spine Institute (SOSI) had been a long time coming and we are thrilled that it has come to fruition.

SOSI brings an unparalleled level of fellowship-trained medical professionals to the region, with the mission to provide the optimal patient experience in surgery, treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation from head to toe. The combined expertise of our medical and support staff provides state-of-the-art care in a personal and professional manner. We are deeply embedded in the community and great enthusiasts of the outdoors, local education, and area charities.

The surgical team has deep experience in the spine, hand, foot & ankle, shoulder & elbow, knees & hips, and all sports injuries, as well as other medical needs.

Dedicated ASC Facility

The SOSI's office is a 27,000 square-foot dedicated state-of-the-art medical facility that is home to the Steamboat Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), which was built in partnership with UCHealth. This dedicated facility, in the Wildhorse Marketplace, is on par with any orthopeadic facilities in the region.

The first floor of the building houses our dedicated ASC, which provides a lower cost of care and a higher-quality patient experience. Having a dedicated orthopaedic ASC can lower the cost of care and keep healthy outpatient surgeries in a facility where patients aren’t exposed to sickness common to shared hospital settings.

State-of-the-Art Radiography and Imaging

The SOSI clinic houses two brand new GE Digital Radiography units (X-rays) and an imaging suite with a state-of-the-art MRI scanner that produces high-resolution images at faster speeds. This will shorten the amount of time a patient has to spend in the scanner while providing the highest-quality diagnostic images for their injuries.

Steamboat Orthopaedic and Spine Institute also has on-site MRI capabilities. The Optima MR 430 is a compact, powerful, 1.5 Tesla extremity MR scanner that delivers precise images of upper and lower extremities (elbow, wrist, hand, finger/thumb, knee, ankle, foot, toe). This machine is conveniently located in our orthopaedic office. The Optima MR 430 is compact and provides affordability to patients. Remaining current and progressive involves continuing education and constant evolution in modern orthopaedic practices. SOSI uses technologies such as three-dimensional imaging, computer-assisted templates, and intraoperative imaging and navigation to help surgeons customize operations for each patient.
