Dr. Adam Wilson

Adam Wilson, M.D.

Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon; Dual Fellowship Trained in Shoulder and Sports Orthopaedic Surgery

Dr. Adam Wilson is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon whose practice focuses on knee, shoulder and sports medicine injuries. He is fellowship-trained in both sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction. Dr. Wilson specializes in ligament reconstruction, cartilage preservation, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder arthroplasty, mountain trauma and complex shoulder pathology.

Late into his orthopaedic residency, Dr. Wilson met internationally renowned French professor Pascal Boileau, MD. He applied and was selected to train in Nice, France, with Dr. Boileau for three months. Upon the conclusion of his initial training, Dr. Wilson was invited to advance his training for the remainder of the year. Dr. Wilson credits his time with Dr. Boileau for his passion for shoulder specialty care. The innovations and practices he learned under Dr. Boileau are critical in how Dr. Wilson operates his practice. His focus for patients is to get them moving and back to their desired activities as quickly as possible. Maintaining a patient's lifestyle and quality of life is always his primary goal.

Dr. Wilson joined the Steamboat Orthopaedic & Spine Institute (SOSI) in 2018. He is a member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Medical Pool, working with “weekend warriors'' and Olympic athletes. He is a Co-Orthopaedic Medical Director for Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and travels nationally and internationally as a team physician with the U.S. Snowboardcross Team.

Dr. Wilson attended medical school at Georgetown University and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Virginia. He completed a sports-medicine fellowship at Taos Orthopaedic Institute in Taos, New Mexico, and a complex shoulder-surgery fellowship at Insitut Universitaire Locomoteur et du Sport in Nice, France.

Dr. Wilson practices out of both Steamboat and Winter Park (Fraser) SOSI locations. Dr. Wilson recently married his best friend Tatum, in Dec 2020. He is an avid skier and enjoys all outdoor activities including camping and fishing, as well as spending time walking and hiking with his dog on local trails and mountains.
