Karissa Abele, PA-C
A Colorado native, Karissa Abele PA-C was born and raised on the Western Slope. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, before pursuing her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She graduated from the Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program, with an emphasis in pediatrics.
Karissa’s lifelong connection to Colorado and active lifestyle sparked her interest in sports medicine and orthopaedics. She finds it especially rewarding to help patients recover from injuries, achieve their goals, and return to the activities they enjoy. As a physician assistant, Karissa is passionate about patient-centered care, shared decision-making, and helping patients better understand complex medical information so they can take an active role in their healthcare. She is particularly passionate about getting to know her patients, supporting them throughout their recovery, and celebrating their progress and success.
Outside of the clinic, Karissa enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and traveling with friends and family. Karissa recently moved to Steamboat Springs and is excited to begin her career with SOSI, become part of the community, and embrace the mountain lifestyle she has always hoped to call home.
